Career Information

The OSA offers many full-time positions throughout the year. Most positions are posted to the Mississippi Personnel Board Website, and can be accessed through our Current Openings link below.

What type of education and experience do I need to work at OSA?

Financial and Compliance Division

This is the largest division of OSA and is divided into six sections: Quality Assurance, Compliance Audit, State Agency Audit, County Audit, Information Technology (IT) Audit, and Municipal Compliance Review. Financial and Compliance (F&C) is responsible for conducting and overseeing audits of public entities.

Typically employs applicants with:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting
  • Path to CPA Certification (preferred but not required)

Government Accountability Division

This division of OSA conducts independent, objective evaluations of state agencies and programs with an emphasis on improving government operations and identifying solutions to problems our state faces. Work in this division requires strong analytical, research, and writing skills

Typically employs applicants with:

  • Degrees in Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration, Data Science, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, English, or Accounting.

Investigations Division

This division of OSA is responsible for the investigation of alleged or suspected violations of Mississippi law, including fraud and embezzlement, by public officials related to the purchase, sale or use of any supplies, services, equipment, or other public property.h:

Typically employs applicants with:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Accounting
  • Possession of a State of Mississippi Law Enforcement Professional Certification
  • Four (4) to Six (6) years of investigative experience in Law Enforcement
  • Juris Doctor (JD) Degree (optional)
  • CPA Certification (optional)

Technical Assistance Division

This division of OSA is responsible for providing accounting and compliance assistance to state and local governments. It also conducts related training and is responsible for the design of uniform accounting systems for local governments

  • Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
