Professional Development Opportunities

Why is education and training essential to accountability, efficiency and effectiveness?

Accountability continues to be the watchword of government. Public officials lead the drive toward accountability by ensuring that they and their staffs are effective and efficient. The best way to insure accountable, efficient and effective government is through adequate training.

How can the Office of the State Auditor help you receive adequate training?

Our office will conduct training seminars in areas of accounting policy and procedure, legal compliance, legislated statutory changes, and other requested topics. Seminars on information systems and data processing will be developed to fit your needs. We also provide audit programs and training for CPAs who contract audits with you.

Why is training offered by the Office of the State Auditor effective?

Reliability. Our office is charged by statute to prescribe accounting procedures for local governments. Our audits determine if the accounting systems you maintain are adequate and if you meet legal compliance requirements. Our training programs are specifically targeted toward accountability and compliance for your particular office. We will work with you to tailor training courses to your particular needs. Our staff is experienced and knowledgeable in local government and can provide the kind of training necessary to ensure accountability, efficiency and effectiveness in local government.

Convenience. Seminars can be scheduled at a time convenient to your association. Simply call our office to schedule one. We will send an instructor to the location of your choice to present the course.

Cost-effectiveness. Our staff will travel at our expense to any location arranged by your association. Instructors will provide training at any facility arranged by you at no cost.
