College students are faced with many decisions: have I chosen the right major; are my grades good enough to get into graduate school; and where will I find a job. Finding a job is where the State Auditor’s Office comes in. We offer a competitive internship for college juniors and seniors majoring in accounting. We offer an 8-week summer internship at the Jackson office for accounting majors completing their junior or senior year at a Mississippi college or university. If selected for the program, you will receive $10,000 towards your college education. You give us 8 weeks in the summer and a two year work commitment after you graduate. It’s easy! You earn retirement, health insurance and cash while working during the summer months, and you receive invaluable training, helping you to succeed not only in college but in your career. Students planning to pursue graduate school full time in accounting following their undergraduate degree are encouraged to apply. Graduate students receive a $12,000 stipend in exchange for a two year commitment. Selection into this program guarantees you a job after college where you will work for one of the largest accounting firms in the state of Mississippi. The Office of the State Auditor has over 75 professional accountants and over 20 certified public accountants who will serve as mentors during your internship and career at the Office of the State Auditor.
