Stacey Pickering
Click Here to Request the Auditor Stacey E. Pickering was elected as the forty-first State Auditor of Mississippi on November 6, 2007. Prior to serving as State Auditor, Stacey was elected to the Mississippi State Senate in 2003 to represent District 42 in Jones County. As Senator, Stacey served as Chairman of the Local and Private Committee and Chairman of Enrolled Bills Committee. Stacey is a seventh-generation Mississippian. He was raised on the family dairy farm in the Hebron community of Jones County. A National 4-H scholarship winner, Stacey graduated from West Jones High School and went on to Jones County Junior College. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., and a Master’s Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1993. Prior to serving in the State Senate, Stacey was the Director of Government Affairs and Inside Sales Manager for Howard Technology Solutions, a division of Howard Industries located in Laurel, Miss. In 2004, Stacey Pickering was named Legislator of the Year by the Mississippi Association of Realtors. The American Legislative Exchange Council named Stacey to the national policy task forces on Transportation and Homeland Security. Stacey helped organize the Mississippi Legislative Sportsman’s Caucus, serving as founding Co-Chairman of this group that in its first year passed more pro-hunting legislation than any other caucus in the nation. Stacey is a member of the National State Auditors Association, National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers and the Association of Governmental Accountants. Stacey and his wife, Whitney, live in Laurel, Miss., with their four children. They are active members of First Baptist Church, Laurel, and at their children’s school, serving as past Presidents of the school PTO. Stacey is active in various community and civic organizations. He is a Mason, a volunteer firefighter, a member of the National Rifle Association and Sigma Nu Fraternity. Stacey serves on the Gala committee for the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art and is a leader in the local Cub Scout Pack. Duties
